Police Searching For Suspect Who Fatally Gunned Down A Woman Early Monday Morning In Northwest, D.C.

WASHINGTON, DC.- The D.C.Metropolitan Police Department is continuing the investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting death of a 27-year-old woman, whose lifeless body was found early Monday morning inside a Northwest, D.C. residence.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Jeffrey Carroll, on Monday, February 2, 2026, just shortly after 3:00 a.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Third District responded to a 911 Emergency Call hang-up from a residence located on the 3100 Block of 16th Street in Northwest, D.C.
   Upon arrival, Responding Police Officers made entry into the residence, where they discovered the lifeless body of Nyesha Walden-Hatcher, 27, of Northwest, D.C., having succumbed to a gunshot wound. Ms Walden-Hatcher was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been reported as of Tuesday night, as Detectives continue the search for the suspect and a motive for the fatal shooting.
