WASHINGTON, DC.- On Sunday night, an 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy, both of Washington, D.C., were taken into custody and detained after being charged in connection with a gunpoint robbery that occurred earlier that evening in Northeast, D.C.

According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Jeffrey Carroll, on Sunday, February 1, 2026, just shortly after 7:30 p.m., members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Sixth District responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a robbery on the 4200 Block of Edson Place in Northeast, D.C.

Upon arrival, Responding Police Officers located a victim, who reported that while within the 4200 Block of Edson Place, they were approached by two male suspects who pulled out handguns and demanded their money and property. The victim complied, and the suspects fled the scene. The victim was not injured during the robbery.

Based on accounts provided by the victim and area video surveillance footage, Police Officers determined that the two suspects fled into a nearby apartment. Within minutes, Police Officers located both suspects and took them into custody. During the arrest, Police Officers recovered two firearms and the victim’s property.

Accordingly, based on a follow-up investigation, Detectives formally charged each Malachi Demar Boahene, 18, and a 17-year-old juvenile male, both of Southeast, D.C., with one count of Robbery While Armed; and Carrying a Pistol without a License.

Both were processed on the charges and were detained pending future court proceedings in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
