MONROE TOWNSHIP, NJ.- On Monday, following an ongoing investigation, a 25-year-old Monroe Township, New Jersey, man initially charged on December 3, 2025, was additionally charged on Monday, February 2, 2026, with multiple child sexual assault and child pornography offenses involving a total of seven minor victims.
According to Gloucester County Prosecutor Andrew B. Johns, on Monday, February 2, 2026, William J. McCray, 25, of Monroe Township, New Jersey, was formally charged in a 27-count criminal complaint.
McCray has been charged with two counts of first-degree Manufacturing Child Pornography; four counts of second-degree Sexual Assault of a Child; three counts of second-degree Manufacturing Child Pornography; one count of second-degree Distribution of Child Pornography; six counts of third-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child; five counts of third-degree Distributing Obscenity to a Minor; two counts of third-degree Possession of Child Pornography; one count of third-degree Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, Methamphetamine; one count of fourth-degree Criminal Sexual Contact; one count of fourth-degree Violation of a Protective Order; and one count of fouth-degree Possession of Drug Paraphernailia.
The charges stem from a months-long investigation that began in October 2025, when a child came forward and reported to Investigators of the Gloucester County Prosecutor’s Office High Tech Crimes Unit and the Monroe Township Police Department that McCray had sexually assaulted her.
On December 3, 2025, Investigators executed a court-authorized search warrant at McCray’s Monroe Township home. During the search, Investigators uncovered and seized quantities of methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and multiple cellular phones. McCray was also taken into custody on that date.
Following an extensive forensic examination of the cellular phones, Investigators uncovered 260 digital images and 40 video files containing the sexual exploitation and abuse of children. A second child victim was discovered in the media files and was interviewed, disclosing that they had also been sexually assaulted by McCray. An additional five other child victims were also identified in the digital images and video files, but the Police did not report whether they had been interviewed.
If convicted at trial on all of the counts contained in the criminal complaint, due to the nature of the charges and the number of victims, McCray could be facing spending the rest of his life in New Jersey State Prison.
