Westfield Home Care Aid Charged With Sexually Assaulting A Rochelle Park Woman

ROCHELLE PARK, NJ.- Last Thursday, following an investigation, a 41-year-old Westfield, New Jersey, man employed as a home care aid was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with sexually assaulting a disabled woman in Rochelle Park, New Jersey.
According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, on Sunday, January 18, 2026, the Rochelle Park Police Department contacted the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit regarding an allegation of a sexual assault.
During the ensuing investigation, Detectives of the Bergen County Special Victims Unit and the Rochelle Park Police Department determined that Michael W. Smith, 41, of Westfield, New Jersey, sexually assaulted an adult disabled woman in Rochelle Park, New Jersey.
Accordingly, on Thursday, January 29, 2026, Smith was taken into custody in Westfield, New Jersey, and was charged by criminal complaint with two counts of first-degree Aggravated Sexual Assault; and third-degree Aggravated Criminal Sexual Contact.
Smith was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending future court proceedings in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, New Jersey.
