Cumberland County Prosecutors Investigate Fatal Injuries Suffered During February 16th Fight

MILLVILLE, NJ.- A homicide investigation is underway in Millville after a 35-year-old city resident died from injuries sustained during a violent altercation inside a private residence Sunday night, authorities confirmed.
Cumberland County Prosecutor Jennifer Webb-McRae announced that just before 9:00 p.m. on February 16, 2026, Detyren Hatch, 35, of East Broad Street in Millville, was transported to Inspira Medical Center Vineland after suffering serious injuries during a physical confrontation at a home located in the 500 block of North Second Street.
Due to the severity of his injuries, Hatch was later airlifted to Cooper University Hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries despite extensive medical treatment.
Police Officers from the Millville Police Department responded to the incident and secured the scene. Detectives from the Cumberland County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit have since assumed control of the investigation and are actively working to determine the circumstances surrounding the altercation.
Authorities have not released details regarding what led to the fight, how many individuals were present inside the residence at the time, or the relationship between those involved. Prosecutors also have not announced whether any arrests have been made in connection with the incident.
The investigation remains ongoing, and officials emphasized that additional information will be released as it becomes available and appropriate.
