NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ.- A New Brunswick man is dead, and another is behind bars following a Sunday afternoon shooting that authorities say stemmed from a family dispute, according to Middlesex County Prosecutor Linda Estremera and New Brunswick Police Chief Vincent Sabo.
Prosecutor Estremera and Chief Sabo announced that Hassan Sannoh, 28, of New Brunswick, has been arrested and charged in connection with a homicide that occurred earlier Sunday in the City of New Brunswick.
Authorities said that on February 22, 2026, at approximately 12:42 p.m., the New Brunswick Police Department received a 9-1-1 call reporting shots fired at a residence on Riverside Drive. Responding Police Officers arrived at the scene and located Ahmad Sannoh, 31, of New Brunswick, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
The victim was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
The investigation, led by Detective Brandt Gregus of the New Brunswick Police Department and Detective Stephanie Redline of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, determined that Hassan Sannoh was the alleged perpetrator in the shooting that caused Ahmad Sannoh’s death.
Investigators further determined that the victim and the accused were family members, and authorities emphasized that the shooting was not a random act of violence.
Later on Sunday, February 22, 2026, Hassan Sannoh was arrested without incident. He has been charged with first-degree Murder; second-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and fourth-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.
Sannoh is currently being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center pending the outcome of a pretrial detention hearing.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. Authorities are asking anyone with information related to the incident, including surveillance footage from the area, to contact Detective Brandt Gregus of the New Brunswick Police Department at (732) 745-5217, or Detective Stephanie Redline of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at (732) 745-3316.
As with all criminal matters, the charges against Hassan Sannoh are allegations. He is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
