Man Fatally Gunned Down Late Saturday Night In Southeast, D.C.

WASHINGTON, DC.- The D.C. Metropolitan Police Department is actively investigating a fatal shooting that claimed the life of a Southeast Washington, D.C. resident late Saturday night.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Jeffrey Carroll, Police Officers assigned to the Seventh District responded to a reported shooting on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at approximately 11:09 p.m., in the 4400 block of 3rd Street, Southeast. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel were dispatched to the scene and immediately rendered emergency medical assistance. Despite all lifesaving efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim has been identified as Travis Fears, age 40, of Southeast, D.C. Authorities have not released additional information regarding a possible suspect or motive, and the circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.
Detectives are continuing to canvass the area, review available evidence, and interview potential witnesses as part of the ongoing investigation.
The Metropolitan Police Department is urging anyone with information related to this incident to come forward.
