NEW MILFORD, NJ.- A 28-year-old New Milford, New Jersey, man has been arrested and charged with producing and possessing child sexual abuse material, along with multiple related offenses, following a months-long investigation conducted by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, authorities announced.
Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said Markos C. Alpar, 28, of New Milford, was arrested on Friday, February 20, 2026, after members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit executed a search warrant at his residence as part of an online child endangerment and child sexual abuse material investigation. The investigation was conducted under the direction of Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Chief Jeff Angermeyer.
According to authorities, the investigation revealed that Alpar allegedly used the internet to view, download, and possess items depicting nude and/or sexually explicit images of prepubescent and pubescent children.
Prosecutors further allege that between December 2024 and January 2025, Alpar engaged in online sexual communications with a juvenile. During those communications, authorities say Alpar exposed his genitalia to the juvenile while communicating online and instructed the juvenile to produce and send sexual photographs and/or videos depicting the child’s intimate parts.
As a result of the investigation, Alpar was charged with the following offenses under New Jersey law:
- First-degree Production of Child Pornography
- Third-degree Possession of Child Pornography
- Third-degree Obscenity to a Minor
- Third-degree Impairing or Debauching the Morals of a Child
- Lewdness, a Disorderly Persons Offense
Authorities said Alpar was remanded to the Bergen County Jail, made an initial appearance in court, and remains in custody pending a detention hearing, which is expected to be held in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack.
Prosecutor Musella thanked the New Milford Police Department and the Oak Ridge, Tennessee Police Department for their assistance in the investigation. He also acknowledged the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office and the police departments of Hackensack, Hasbrouck Heights, Norwood, Waldwick, and Washington Township, all of which participate in the Bergen County Cyber Crimes Task Force.
As with all criminal cases, the charges against Alpar are accusations only. The defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
