WASHINGTON, DC.- The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) announced Wednesday that officers have arrested a suspect accused of robbing a food delivery worker in Southeast Washington, D.C., during an incident that police say occurred Monday afternoon and ended quickly when responding officers stopped the alleged offender.

According to MPD, the robbery occurred on Monday, March 2, 2026, at approximately 2:58 p.m., in the 400 block of Atlantic Street, Southeast, while the victim was delivering food. Police said the suspect approached the delivery worker and snatched the food the victim was delivering.

MPD stated that responding officers stopped the suspect shortly after the alleged robbery.

Police identified the suspect as Michael James Worthy, 34, with no known address. MPD said Worthy was arrested and charged with Robbery (Snatch).

The department did not provide additional details in its announcement regarding whether the victim was injured, whether any other property was taken, or whether the stolen items were recovered. MPD also did not specify which delivery service, if any, the victim was working for at the time.

As in all criminal cases, Worthy is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
