THE 2024 ESSEX COUNTY ANNUAL CHERRY BLOSSOM FESTIVALS KICKS OFF APRIL 6th THROUGH APRIL 14th
“Essex County, New Jersey Kicks Off Their 48th Annual Cherry Blossom Festival At Branch Brook Park.”

NEWARK, NJ.- Essex County Parks Commission has announced that the 2024 Annual Cherry Blossom Festival begins on April 6, 2024, and will last through April 14, 2024, at Branch Brook Park. The Park which runs through Bellville and Newark, New Jersey, features a complement of over 5000 Japanese Cherry Blossom Trees.
The Annual Festival kicks off with an Action-Packed Cherry Blossom Bike Race. Other highlights will include The Cherry Blossom 10K Run, The Essex County Family Day, The 1-Mile Fun Run and Walk, and The Annual Bloomfest which features Live Music, Fun, and Activities for Kids, Crafters, and Japanese Cultural Demonstrations.
Over the years Thousands of Visitors have been mystified by the breathtaking beauty of thousands of Cherry Trees. The Park first adopted the Pink and White Splender, when in 1927 Caroline Bamberger Flud donated 2000 Cherry Blossom Trees to The Essex County Park System in memory of her late husband. Over the years trees have been added in a variety of different colors ranging from Snow White to Pink. The very first Cherry Blossom Festival was held in 1976.
Branch Brook Park consists of 360-Acre Park that is listed on The New Jersey and Historic Registries of Historic Places. The Park was the First County Park in The United States to be opened to The Public. The Park was designed by The Olmsted Brothers Landscape Architectural Firm, a Firm established by the sons of Frederick Law Olmsted, the Designer of The Famed Central Park in New York City.
