Pentagon Confirms Another Fatality From March 1st Attack On American Base In Saudi Arabia As War With Iran Enters Second Week

Sunday, March 8, 2025, 4:45 P.M. ET. 4 Minute Read, By Art Fletcher: Englebrook Independent News,

TAMPA, FL.- The United States military confirmed Sunday that a seventh American service member has died from injuries sustained during Iran’s retaliatory missile and drone strikes against U.S. positions in the Middle East earlier this month, marking another somber milestone in a conflict that has rapidly escalated across the region.

     Officials with U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that the service member succumbed to wounds originally suffered during Iran’s large-scale counterattack on March 1, 2026, when Iranian forces launched missiles and drones against multiple U.S. and allied installations following American and Israeli strikes on Iranian targets.

     The latest death raises the number of confirmed American fatalities from the attack to seven, according to military officials and multiple news reports.

     CENTCOM said the service member had been hospitalized with severe injuries after the attack and later died despite continued medical treatment.

     Military officials did not immediately release the identity of the fallen service member, following longstanding Department of War policy requiring notification of next of kin before public disclosure.

A Deadly Opening Strike;

     The fatal injuries were sustained during the first major wave of Iranian retaliation that followed the opening of the current war on February 28, 2026, when U.S. and Israeli forces launched coordinated strikes against Iranian military infrastructure and leadership targets.

     Within hours of those operations, Iranian forces responded with missile and drone attacks across the Middle East, targeting U.S. installations and regional allies.

     According to CENTCOM, the March 1, 2026, barrage struck several military facilities used by American forces, including installations in Saudi Arabia where U.S. troops were stationed in support roles for regional defense operations.

     Earlier Pentagon reports indicated that the initial strike killed multiple U.S. personnel and wounded others, some critically.

     The attack formed part of a broader Iranian campaign targeting American and allied military infrastructure throughout the Gulf region.

     Missile and drone strikes have since hit sites in Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, and the United Arab Emirates, while Iranian-made drones have also damaged civilian infrastructure in the region, including energy facilities and desalination plants.

Honoring the Fallen;

     Prior to the latest death, the Pentagon had confirmed six American service members killed during the early days of the conflict.

     Those service members included:

  • Capt. Cody A. Khork
  • Sgt. 1st Class Noah L. Tietjens
  • Sgt. 1st Class Nicole M. Amor
  • Sgt. Declan J. Coady
  • Maj. Jeffrey R. O’Brien
  • Chief Warrant Officer 3 Robert M. Marzan

     Their remains were returned on Saturday to the United States in a solemn, dignified transfer ceremony at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware, attended by President Donald Trump, Vice President JD Vance, senior military leaders, and the families of the fallen.

     Defense officials have described the casualties as among the first American combat deaths of the rapidly expanding regional conflict.

The Department of War has also reported that multiple additional U.S. service members were wounded during the attack and continue to receive treatment.

A War Expanding Across The Region;

     The deaths come as the confrontation between Iran and the U.S.–Israel alliance continues to widen across the Middle East.

     Since the start of hostilities:

  • U.S. and Israeli forces have carried out extensive strikes on Iranian military infrastructure.
  • Iran has responded with missile and drone attacks targeting Gulf states hosting American forces.
  • Regional infrastructure, including oil facilities, military installations, and civilian sites, has sustained damage.

     International leaders have warned that the conflict could trigger broader instability across the Gulf and has already disrupted global energy markets.

     Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts to halt the violence have thus far produced little progress.

A Nation In Mourning;

     For the families of the fallen service members, the geopolitical stakes are overshadowed by a far more personal reality.

     Another American life has been lost in a conflict unfolding thousands of miles from home.

     Military leaders say the service members’ sacrifice will not be forgotten.

     “Their courage and commitment to duty represent the very best of the United States Armed Forces,” a CENTCOM spokesperson said in a statement honoring the fallen.

     As the war continues into its second week, officials warn that further casualties remain possible.

     For now, the nation pauses once more to honor the latest service member whose life was cut short in the line of duty.

Editor’s Note:

This report is based on statements from U.S. Central Command, the U.S. Department of War, and multiple international news reports published March 8, 2026, regarding casualties from Iran’s March 1, 2026, retaliatory strikes on U.S. military facilities in the Middle East. The identity of the seventh service member had not yet been publicly released at the time of publication, pending notification of family members. Casualty figures and operational details may be updated as additional official information becomes available.
