ATLANTIC CITY, NJ.- A Mays Landing man has been sentenced to three years in New Jersey State Prison after pleading guilty to a narcotics distribution offense stemming from a 2025 incident in Atlantic City, authorities confirmed.
Antoyane McCall, 26, of Mays Landing, New Jersey, was sentenced on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, following his guilty plea to third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) with intent to distribute. The charge carries significant penalties under New Jersey law, particularly in cases involving multiple controlled substances and evidence of distribution activity.
According to law enforcement accounts, the incident occurred on March 19, 2025, at approximately 2:45 p.m., when members of the Atlantic City Police Department observed what they believed to be a suspected drug transaction in progress.
Detectives reported witnessing McCall reaching into a plastic bag and attempting to remove an unknown substance while an older woman simultaneously removed paper currency from her pocket and extended it toward him. The interaction, consistent with a hand-to-hand narcotics transaction, drew the attention of officers in the area.
Upon noticing police vehicles approaching with emergency lights activated, McCall allegedly attempted to conceal the plastic bag by placing it back into a satchel. He then turned away from the woman and began walking in the opposite direction.
Detectives, who were wearing police vests with visible badges, issued a verbal command identifying themselves as law enforcement and ordering McCall to stop. Authorities stated that McCall instead fled on foot, running north along Tennessee Avenue before turning west onto Atlantic Avenue toward the Renaissance Plaza area.
Following a brief foot pursuit, McCall ultimately surrendered to officers without further incident.
A subsequent search revealed that McCall was in possession of multiple items consistent with narcotics distribution. Authorities reported recovering a digital scale containing CDS residue, quantities of heroin and fentanyl packaged for distribution, U.S. currency in various denominations, and a plastic bag containing cocaine. Investigators indicated that the cocaine matched the substance officers initially observed McCall handling prior to the attempted transaction.
The case was investigated by the Atlantic City Police Department, whose officers conducted both the surveillance and the arrest that led to the charges.
McCall’s conviction underscores ongoing enforcement efforts targeting street-level narcotics distribution in Atlantic City and surrounding communities. Law enforcement officials have repeatedly emphasized the dangers associated with fentanyl and heroin, particularly as overdose rates continue to pose public health challenges across New Jersey.
