41-Year-Old Has Been Charged With The Kidnapping And Sexual Assault Of A Minor In Union, New Jersey

UNION, NJ.- Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel reported, a 41-year-old Union, New Jersey man was taken into custody last Wednesday and charged in connection with the kidnapping and aggravated sexual assault of a minor in Union Township, New Jersey.

     Following an investigation from a referral, members of the Union County Special Victims Unit have formally charged Solomon Blay, 41, of Union, New Jersey, with one count of first-degree Kidnapping By Unlawful Confinement; one count of first-degree Aggravated Sexual Assault; one count of second-degree Sexual Assault; one count of third-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child; and one count of fourth-degree Criminal Sexual Contact.

     On Wednesday, May 8, 2024, Blay was apprehended in Newark, New Jersey, and following his first appearance is currently being detained at the Essex County Correctional Facility. The Union County Prosecutor’s Office has filed a pretrial detention motion to have Blay detained pending trial, the motion has been scheduled for today in Union County Superior Court in Elizabeth, New Jersey.
