26-Year-Old Atlantic City Man Charged In Connection With A Saturday Night Pleasantville, New Jersey Shooting

PLEASANTVILLE, NJ.- Atlantic County Prosecutor William E. Reynolds reported, a 26-year-old Atlantic City, New Jersey man was taken into custody and charged in connection with a shooting that occurred Saturday night in Pleasantville, New Jersey.

     According to the Prosecutor’s Office, on Saturday, May 18, 2024, just minutes after 11:30 p.m., members of the Pleasantville Police Department responded to a multi-shot ShotSpotter Activation in the area of 317 West Park Avenue in Pleasantville.

     Upon arrival, Police Officers located a man, identified as Andrew Miller, 31, of Pleasantville, New Jersey suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Mr. Miller was immediately transported to AlantiCare Regional Medical Center for treatment. 

     During the initial investigation, Police Officers learned that the gunman fled the scene in Lexus. After issuing an all-county alert, The Lexus was stopped by New Jersey State Troopers on the Atlantic City Expressway. The driver, Marlon Chiles, III, 26, of Atlantic City, New Jersey was immediately taken into custody and turned over to Pleasantville Police Officers.

     Accordingly, Chiles was formally charged with first-degree Attempted Murder; second-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; and third-degree Possession with the Intent to Distribute Marijuana, after a large amount of suspected marijuana was located in the vehicle after it was stopped.

     Chiles was processed on the charges and was transported to the Atlantic County Justice Facility pending a first appearance and detention hearing in Atlantic County Superior Court.
