33-Year-Old Harborfields Juvenile Detention Officer Charged With Second-Degree Official Misconduct

MAYS LANDING, NJ.- Today, Atlantic County Prosecutor William E. Reynolds reported, that following an investigation, on Thursday, May 16, 2024, Harborfields Juvenile Detention Youth Worker Tyrell Jones, 33, of Atlantic City, New Jersey, was charged with one count of second-degree Official Misconduct; and one count of second-degree Knowingly Providing an Electronic Communications Device to a Person Confined in a County Juvenile Detention Facility.

     According to authorities, in 2023, the Juvenile Justice Commission provided information to the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office about Jones supplying contraband to juvenile residents detained in the county juvenile detention facility.

     Following an investigation by Detectives of the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Professional Standards and Accountability Unit. Detectives determined that Jones was found that he provided Harborfields juveniles who were being detained access to his personal cell phone.

“The rules of the court requires us to include a statement, that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
