47-Year-Old Man Shot & Killed & Man Hospitalized After Being Shot Early Sunday On Elizabeth Street

ELIZABETH, NJ.- The Union County Homicide Task Force and the Elizabeth Police Department are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding an early Sunday morning shooting in Elizabeth, New Jersey, that has claimed the life of a man and left another man hospitalized.

     According to Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel, in the early morning hours of Sunday, July 7, 2024, members of the Elizabeth Police Department responded to the 400 Block of Westminster Avenue in the City of Elizabeth after receiving a report of a shooting.

     Upon arrival, Police Officers found two male victims who had sustained gunshot wounds. Both men were immediately transported to an area hospital where Jose Aranzamedi, 47, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased. The other victim, a 51-year-old man, was treated for his injuries and remains hospitalized in stable condition.

     The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been made as authorities continue their search for the suspect or suspects.
