HOWELL TOWNSHIP, NJ.- Yesterday, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago reported that Detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding Tuesday’s late afternoon fatal crash that claimed the life of a 28-year-old Freehold Township, New Jersey man.

According to authorities, on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, shortly before 5:00 p.m., members of the Howell Township Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a serious crash involving a motorcycle and motor vehicle at the intersection of Fort Plains Road and Jerry’s Lane in the Township.

Upon arrival, Police Officers discovered that a 28-year-old Freehold Township man operating a Honda GL 1100L motorcycle had slid into a Howell Township man driving a Honda Odyssey minivan. The motorcyclist sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.

The initial investigation determined that the motorcyclist, while traveling northbound on Fort Plains Road, failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, causing the motorcyclist to fall and slide head-on into the oncoming minivan. Following the collision, the minivan driver remained at the scene.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. Anyone with information or who may have witnessed the crash is urged to contact Detective Nicolas Logothetis of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office at (800) 533-7443 or Howell Township Police Department Patrol Officer Michael Silvani at (732) 938-4111.
