Pleasantville Man Indicted On A Charge Of Vehicular Homicide For Killing A Pedestrian While Driving Drunk

MAYS LANDING, NJ.- Last Tuesday, July 16, 2024, a Grand Jury sitting in Atlantic County, New Jersey, returned an indictment against Maykol J. Mendozarizo, 38, of Pleasantville, New Jersey, on the charge of second-degree Vehicular Homicide in connection with a fatal crash that occurred on November 19, 2023, in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
According to Atlantic County Prosecutor William E. Reynolds, on November 19, 2023, shortly after 8:00 p.m., Mendozario was involved in a motor vehicle crash on Albany Avenue in Atlantic City. Mendozario struck a pedestrian, Heriberto Alicea, 61, of Atlantic City, New Jersey.
Mr. Alicea was pronounced deceased from injuries he sustained due to being struck by Mendozario’s motor vehicle.
A subsequent investigation at the time of the collision by Detectives of the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Crash Investigation Unit and the Atlantic City Police Department determined that at the time of the crash, Mendozario was driving under the influence of alcohol when he struck Mr. Alicea.
