CHATHAM, NJ.- Yesterday, a 26-year-old Newark, New Jersey man was sentenced to New Jersey State Prison in connection with a December 2023 arrest for supplying narcotics to two underage Morris County girls in return for sexual favors.
According to Morris County Prosecutor Robert J. Carroll, on Thursday, August 1, 2024, Nafis H. Wiggins, 26, of Newark, New Jersey, appeared in Morris County Superior Court and was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Claudia Jones, to ten years in State Prison. Upon his release from prison, Wiggins will be required to register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law registration requirements and will be subject to parole supervision for life.
Wiggins had previously entered guilty pleas on March 1, 2024, before Judge Jones to two counts of second-degree Luring; and one count of third-degree Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance with Intent to Distribute.
The guilty plea and the prison sentence stem from an investigation that began when, on August 1, 2023, through September 28, 2023, Wiggins, who was 25 years old at the time, provided various narcotics to two girls, who were fourteen and fifteen years old at the time, in exchange for sexual favors. Wiggins recruited and lured the two girls via text messages.
On several occasions, Wiggins drove from Newark to meet the girls at locations in Chatham Township and Chatham Borough and drove the girls in his vehicle to more secluded areas to engage in drug use and sexual activity.
On December 19, 2023, Wiggins was taken into custody a Cougar Field in Chatham Township and was found to be in possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
Following the arrest, Wiggins was processed on charges and remanded to the Morris County Correctional Facility, where he has remained detained. Following sentencing yesterday, Wiggins will be transferred to the custody of the New Jersey State Department of Corrections to serve his prison term.
