46-Year-Old Florida Man Pleaded Guilty On Tuesday For Sexually Assaulting A 6-Year-Old Girl In Phillipsburg In 2018

PHILLIPSBURG, NJ.- On Monday, August 5, 2024, a 46-year-old former Inverness, Florida, man appeared in Warren County Superior Court and admitted guilt just prior to the start of trial in connection with the sexual assault of a 6-year-old girl that occurred in July 2018 in Phillipsburg, New Jersey.
According to Acting Warren County Prosecutor Anthony A. Picione, On Monday, Cameron M. Scrudato, 46, just prior to the start of his trial, pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree Sexual Assault.
Following entering his guilty plea, Warren County Superior Court Judge John J. Burke, III accepted Scrudato’s guilty plea and tentatively scheduled sentencing for October 18, 2024.
In return for the guilty plea, the Warren County Prosecutor’s Office will request that Scrudato be sentenced to 10 years in New Jersey State Prison, subject to the No Early Release Act, which requires Scrudato to serve 85% of his custodial term before becoming eligible for parole.
Scrudato will also be required to register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law requirements and subject to parole supervision for life. The Warren County Prosecutor’s Office will also require Scrudato to reimburse the costs to Warren County for extradition back to New Jersey.
Scrudato remains incarcerated in the Warren County Correctional Facility, where he has been detained since his return to New Jersey. Following his sentencing, Scrudato will be turned over to the New Jersey State Department of Corrections, where he will begin serving his sentence.
