Brooklyn, New York Man Charged With Providing Fraudulent Information

52-Year-Old Brooklyn Man Charged For Trying To Obtain A Bank Credit Card In Another Person’s Name

GREENWICH TOWNSHIP, NJ.- Acting Warren County Prosecutor Anthony A. Picione reported that on Tuesday, July 30, 2024, a 52-year-old Brooklyn, New York man was taken into custody and charged with attempting to obtain a TD Bank credit card using false documents.

     Following being taken into custody, Luis A. Godoy, 52, of Brooklyn, New York, was formally charged with third-degree Forgery; third-degree Presenting a False Government Document; and fourth-degree Impersonating Another. Godoy was processed on the charges, pending future court proceedings in Warren County Superior Court in Belvidere, New Jersey.

     The charges are the result of an investigation that began on Tuesday, July 30, 2024. Shortly after 11:30 a.m., members of the Greenwich Township Police Department responded to the TD Bank located on State Highway 22 in the Township following a report that a man was trying to obtain a TD Bank credit card using fraudulent information of another person.

     Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man matching the description that bank employees gave to officers. During the initial investigation, Police Officers were able to locate Godoy nearby. Godoy was identified as the suspect and arrested by responding Police Officers.

     If convicted on the charges, Godoy could face a potential five-year New Jersey State Prison term.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
