38-Year-Old New Brunswick Pedestrian Was Fatally Struck By Car Early Thursday Morning

NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ.- Middlesex County authorities are continuing the investigation into the circumstances surrounding a motor vehicle collision that claimed the life of a 38-year-old pedestrian early Thursday morning while walking on a New Brunswick street.
According to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone, on Thursday, August 15, 2024, shortly before 1:00 a.m., members of the New Brunswick Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency call reporting a pedestrian had been struck by a motor vehicle on Townsend Street in New Brunswick.
Victim Identified
Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man, later identified as Jarred Boyer, 38, of New Brunswick, New Jersey, suffering from serious injuries after being struck by a motor vehicle. Mr. Boyer was immediately transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased a short time later.
The initial investigation by Officer Matthew Beltanena of the New Brunswick Police Department and Detective Ken McGarry of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office determined that Mr. Boyer was struck while walking on Townsend Street by a car being operated by a 32-year-old man, who remained on the scene after hitting Mr. Boyer.
Investigation Continues
The investigation remains active and ongoing. No charges or summonses have been filed at this time.
