Police Search For The Suspect Who Struck A Pedestrian Saturday Afternoon In West New York

WEST NEW YORK, NJ.- Today, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez reported that Detectives of Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the West New York Police Department are actively investigating a hit-and-run that occurred Saturday, August 17, 2024, in West New York that left a pedestrian hospitalized in critical condition.
According to police, on Saturday, August 17, 2024, shortly after 3:30 p.m., members of the West New York Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting that a pedestrian had been struck by a motorcycle at the intersection of Bergenline Avenue and 57th Street in West New York.
Man Struck By Motorcycle
Upon arrival, Police Officers found a 54-year-old Union City, New Jersey man who sustained serious life-threatening injuries. The man was immediately transported to Jersey City Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition.
During the initial investigation, Police Officers learned that the man was struck by a motorcycle while crossing the roadway. After striking the man, the operator of the motorcycle fled the scene on foot.
