CLERMONT, NJ.- On Tuesday, August 20, 2024, following an investigation into internet child pornography activity, a 63-year-old man from the Clermont section of Dennis Township, New Jersey, was taken into custody and jailed after being charged with child pornography offenses.

Charges Filed

According to Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland, on Tuesday, Steven T. Seeburg, 63, was formally charged with second-degree Distribution of Child Pornography; and third-degree Possession of Child Pornography.

Seeburg was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Cape May County Correctional Facility pending future court proceedings in Cape May County Superior Court in Cape May Court House, New Jersey.

The charges stem from an investigation that began when members of the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office High-Tech Crimes Unit & Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force received a Cyber-Tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that an unidentified individual was utilizing the internet to view, download, possess, and share digital images of nude and sexually explicit children.

During the investigation, Detectives identified an IP address associated with a residence in Clermont, New Jersey, and identified the individual living there as Seeburg.

Search Warrant

On Tuesday, August 20, 2024, the investigation concluded with the execution of a court-authorized search warrant on Seeburg’s residence. During the search, Detectives of local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies found multiple cellular phones and laptops that contained digital images of nude and sexually explicit prepubescent and pubescent children. Seeburg was immediately taken into custody at his residence.

If convicted on the charges, Seeburg will face up to ten years in New Jersey State Prison, will be required to register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law, and will be on parole supervision for life.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
