27-Year-Old Fredon, New Jersey Man Sentenced To State Prison Possession Of Cocaine & Weapons Offense

FREDON TOWNSHIP, NJ.- On Friday, August 23, 2024, Matthew Knorr, 27, of Fredon Township, New Jersey, appeared in Sussex County Superior Court and was sentenced by Superior Court Judge Michael C. Gaus to State Prison in connection with a 2023 narcotics investigation.

     According to Acting Sussex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray, Judge Gaus sentenced Knorr to eight years in New Jersey State Prison. Knorr will serve a mandatory 42 months before becoming eligible for parole, with a credit of 245 days that Knorr has already spent detained since his arrest. Knorr will also be required to submit a DNA sample and ordered to pay $2,330 in penalties and fines.

Guilty Plea

     According to documents filed with the court, Knorr had previously pleaded guilty to second-degree Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, Cocaine with the Intent to Distribute; and second-degree Unlawful Possession of an Assualt Firearm.

     The charges and sentence stem from an investigation that began in November and December 2023 by Detectives of the Sussex County Guns, Gangs, and Narcotics Task Force in conjunction with Detective Kevin Foulds of the New Jersey State Police, into the distribution of cocaine within the Sussex County, New Jersey area.

Investigation

     During the investigation, Knorr was identified as a suspect who was involved in the possession and distribution of cocaine in the Sussex County area. At the culmination of the investigation and during his arrest, Knorr was found to be in possession of an assault firearm. Knorr was subsequently charged with multiple narcotics and weapons offenses.

     Following being charged, Knorr was remanded to the Morris  County Correctional Facility. Following Friday’s sentencing, he will be transferred to the custody of the New Jersey State Department of Corrections.
