PERTH AMBOY, NJ.- Middlesex County authorities continue investigating a multi-motor vehicle crash that occurred on Friday, August 23, 2024, in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, that claimed the life of a 25-year-old Perth Amboy man.

According to Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone, on Friday, August 23, 2024, shortly before 6:00 p.m., members of the Perth Amboy Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a serious multi-vehicle crash in the area of Kamm Road and Convery Boulevard in the City of Perth Amboy, involving a motorcycle and two other vehicles.

Upon arrival, Police Officers found Michael Fernandez, 25, of Perth Amboy, New Jersey, who had sustained severe life-threatening injuries. Mr. Fernandez was immediately transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased a short time later.

Initial Investigation

The investigation by responding Police Officers determined that one of the other two vehicles, a sedan, struck the motorcycle, and only the driver in the sedan, who sustained minor injuries, was transported to the hospital and was treated and released in the evening.

The other vehicle that was struck by the sedan was occupied by three people, who were all transported to Raritan Bay Medical Center, where they were treated for various minor injuries and were released later Friday evening.

The subsequent investigation, led by Detective Kyle Savoia of the Perth Amboy Police Department and Detective Matthew Colonna of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office, determined that Mr. Fernandez was struck by the sedan while attempting to turn his motorcycle onto Convery Boulevard. The sedan then collided with the other vehicle.

The investigation remains active and ongoing. Anyone with additional information or who may have witnessed the collision is asked to contact Detective Savoia of the Perth Amboy Police Department at (732) 324-3837 or Detective Matthew Colonna of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at (732) 745-3354.
