New Castle, Pennsylvania Woman Admits Guilt Year-Long Fentanyl Conspiracy

PITTSBURGH, PA.- On Wednesday, September 4, 2024, U.S. Attorney Eric G. Olshan reported that a 37-year-old New Castle, Pennsylvania, woman appeared in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and admitted guilt to conspiring to distribute fentanyl and florofentanyl.

     Kailin Stewart, 37, of New Castle, appeared before Senior U.S. District Judge Arthur J. Schwab and pleaded guilty to charges of Conspiring to Distribute 40 Grams or More of Fentanyl; and 10 Grams or More of Fluorofentanyl between May 2021 and October 2022.

     Following accepting the guilty plea, Judge Stewart scheduled sentencing for January 8, 2025. At that time, Stewart faces a minimum of 5 years and up to 40 years in federal prison and a fine of up to $5 million, or both. The sentence’s actual term will be based on the offense’s seriousness and prior criminal history.

     U.S. Attorney Olshan commended the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General, United States Postal Inspection Service, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Lawrence County Drug Task Force, Mercer County Drug Task Force, New Castle Police Department, Sharon Police Department, and the Pennsylvania State Police for their investigative efforts for the investigation, arrest, and guilty plea.
