Newbury Man Sentenced To Federal Prison For Distributing Child Pornography

Tuesday, September 10, 2024, 4:00 P.M. ET. 2 Minute Read, By Art Fletcher: Englebrook Independent News,

CONCORD, NH.- On Monday, September 9, 2024, Marc Jacques, 50, of Newbury, New Hampshire, appeared in U.S. District Court for the District of New Hampshire and was sentenced to federal prison for the Distribution of Child Sexual Abuse Material.

U.S. Attorney Jane E. Young reported that on Monday, Jacques was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Paul Barbadoro to 60 months in federal prison, followed by five years of supervised release. Additionally, Judge Barbadoro ordered Jacques to pay $26,500 in restitution. On March 18, 2024, Jacques entered a guilty plea to one count of Distribution of Child Pornography.

According To Documents Filed With The Court

According to documents filed in the District Court, between 2018 and 2022, Jacques’ IP address had been reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children with at least 40 CyberTips regarding online sexual exploitation of children.

Between November 24 and December 6, 202, Jacques uploaded 49 files of apparent child sexual abuse material to the social media platform Kik. Law enforcement executed a court-authorized search warrant on Jacques’ residence and person in June 2022. Forensic examination of Jacques’ electronic devices uncovered over 200 digital files of child sexual abuse material as well as chats between Jacques and others related to the sexual exploitation of children and the sharing of child pornography.

In at least one chat conversation, Jacques sent videos of child pornography to others.

“Survivors of child sexual abuse material suffer from revictimization and live every day with the fear that their abuse is being shared on the internet,” said U.S. Attorney Jane E. Young. “Law enforcement in the District of New Hampshire will continue to utilize every resource available to disrupt the distribution of child sexual abuse material and incarcerate offenders convicted of these horrific crimes.”

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse, launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice.
