Barnegat Woman Killed In Hit & Run Thursday Night In Galloway Township

GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP, NJ.- Atlantic County authorities are continuing the investigation and search for the driver who fatally struck a 33-year-old Barnegat, New Jersey, woman and then fled the scene on foot last night in Galloway Township, New Jersey.
According to Atlantic County Prosecutor William E. Reynolds, on Thursday, September 12, 2024, shortly before 8:00 p.m., members of the Galloway Township Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a woman being struck by a motor vehicle on Route 30 West in the area of Seventh Avenue in the Township.
Upon arrival, Police Officers found a woman, later identified as Angeletta Sheppard, 33, of Barnegat, New Jersey, having succumbed to fatal injuries. Ms. Sheppard was subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene.
The initial investigation determined that while walking on Route 30 Westbound near the intersection of Seventh Avenue, Ms. Sheppard was struck by a Silver Kia Optima. The driver of the Kia fled the scene on foot after striking Ms. Sheppard.
