Elkland Man Sentenced To Prison For Possessing Child Pornography

WILLIAMSPORT, PA.- On Thursday, September 12, 2024, Michael Young, 43, of Elkland, Pennsylvania, appeared in U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Chief Judge Matthew W. Brann to 180 months in federal prison for Possession of Child Pornography.
According to U.S. Attorney Gerald M. Karam, Young had previously pleaded guilty to receiving child pornography on March 26, 2024.
Young had been identified by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in 2022 for participating in an online website that engaged in the file sharing of child pornography.
After his initial arrest in January 2022, Young was released by the court and placed on supervised release pending trial. During his supervised release and in July 2023, Young was found to have downloaded additional digital images of child pornography depicting nude or sexually explicit children.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
