PITTSBURGH, PA.- U.S. Attorney Eric G. Olshan reported that on Tuesday, September 18, 2024, a Federal Grand Jury for the Western District of Western Pennsylvania returned an indictment against Joseph Primiero, 26, of Clairton, Pennsylvania on 19 counts of the Sexual Exploitation of Minors.

According to information unsealed in the indictment, on January 22, 2022, and between August 13, 2022, and June 28, 2022, Primiero produced material depicting the sexual abuse and exploitation of children. During that same time frame, Primiero allegedly coerced and enticed a child to engage in sexual activity and received and distributed material depicting the sexual abuse and exploitation of minors.

Further, Primiero is alleged to have sent obscene images and videos of himself engaged in sexually explicit conduct to a child. Additionally, Primiero is charged with possession of materials depicting the sexual abuse and exploitation of prepubescent children under twelve years of age on May 22, 2024.

Primiero Faces Life In Prison

If convicted on the charges, Primiero faces a maximum of life in federal prison and up to $4.75 million, or both. The actual sentence imposed would be based on the seriousness of the offenses and Primiero’s criminal history, if any.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Allegheny County Police Department conducted the investigation that led to Tuesday’s indictment.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
