Weehawken Man Charged For Sexually Assaulting Woman Tuesday Morning

WEEHAWKEN, NJ.- Today, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez reported that Detectives have taken a 27-year-old Weehawken, New Jersey, man in connection with an alleged sexual assault of a woman that occurred in his Port Imperial residence early Tuesday morning.
According to Prosecutor Suarez, on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, shortly before 2:00 a.m., members of the Weehawken Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a woman in distress inside an apartment in Port Imperial in Weehawken.
Upon arrival, Police Officers found a woman who reported being sexually and physically assaulted by a man at his residence. Responding Police Officers identified and apprehended the man, later identified as Dennis Hackett, 27, of Weehawken.
Charges Filed Against Hackett
Following an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, Detectives of the Hudson County Special Victims Unit formally charged Hackett with Sexual Assault; Criminal Sexual Contact; and Simple Assault.
As a result of his conduct during his initial arrest, Hackett was additionally charged by the Weehawken Police Department with Aggravated Assault on a Police Officer; Throwing Bodily Fluids at a Police Officer; Resisting Arrest; and Criminal Restraint.
After being processed on the charges, Hackett was remanded to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending future court proceedings in Hudson County Superior Court in Jersey City, New Jersey. The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office has filed a motion to detain Hackett pending trial, which has been tentatively scheduled for September 23, 2024.
