Garfield Man Charged With Sexually Assaulting A Child

GARFIELD, NJ.- On Thursday, September 26, 2024, a 24-year-old Garfield, New Jersey, man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged in connection with the past sexual assault of a preteen in Garfield.

     According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, on Friday, September 13, 2024, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit received a report from the Garfield Police Department regarding the alleged sexual assault of a child that had occurred in the past.

Investigation Uncovers Sex Crime

     An investigation conducted by Detectives of the Bergen County Special Victims Unit in conjunction with the Garfield Police Department determined that Jayden A. Maneiro, 24, of Garfield, New Jersey, had sexually assaulted a child who was under the age of thirteen at the time of the assault in Garfield, New Jersey.

     Accordingly, on Thursday, Manerio was taken into custody by Detectives at the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office in Paramus, New Jersey, and was formally charged with second-degree Sexual Assault; and third-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

     Maneiro was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending his first appearance in Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack, New Jersey.

     If convicted at trial of the charges, Maneiro faces up to 10 years in New Jersey State Prison to be followed by parole supervision for life and will be required to register as a sex offender under Megan’s Law registration requirements.
