Tenafly Man Charged With Physically Assaulting Teen

TENAFLY, NJ.- Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella reported that following an investigation, on Monday, September 30, 2024, a 50-year-old Tenafly, New Jersey man was taken into custody and jailed following being charged in connection with the alleged physical assault of a child.
On Monday, the New Jersey Division of Child Protection and Permanency contacted Detectives of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office after receiving an allegation regarding the alleged physical abuse of a child under the age of sixteen.
Investigation Confirms Child Abuse
Following a swift-moving investigation and after interviewing witnesses, including the child victim, Detectives of the Bergen County Special Victims Unit and the Tenafly Police Department quickly determined that Chen Chu “Teddy” Koo, 60, of Tenafly, New Jersey, physically assaulted a child who was under the age of sixteen on Sunday, September 29, 2024, in the Borough of Tenafly.
Accordingly, on Monday, September 30, 2024, Koo was taken into custody at the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office in Paramus, New Jersey, and formally charged with second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child; and fourth-degree Child Abuse.
Koo was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending future court proceedings in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, New Jersey.
