Man Charged In Sunday’s Washington D.C. Stabbing Death

WASHINGTON, DC.- Detectives of the Metropolitan Police Department have taken a 38-year-old Washington, D.C. man into custody and charged him in connection with the early Sunday morning stabbing death of a 44-year-old man.

     According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Sunday, October 6, 2024, shortly around 1:00 a.m., members of the Metropolitan Police Department responded to a 911 Emergency Call reporting a man being stabbed on the 1700 Block of Lincoln Road in Northeast section of Washington, D.C.

     Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man, later identified as Antonio Woody, 44, of Northeast Washington, unresponsive from multiple stab wounds. D.C. Fire and Emergency Medical Service responded to the scene, and despite life-saving efforts, Mr. Woody succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

     A swift-moving investigation by Metropolitan Police Detectives and investigators from the Real Time Crime Center were able to identify images of the suspect and a description that was broadcast over the Metropolitan Police network. A short time later, Metropolitan Patrol units located and arrested the man, identified as Kevin Johnson, 38, of Northeast Washington, D.C.

Detectives Charge Johnson With Murder

     Following being taken into custody, Detectives formally charged Johnson with Second-Degree Murder while Armed. Johnson was processed on the charge and was remanded to the Central Detention Facility.

“The rules of the court require us to include a statement that states: The charges outlined in this publication are merely accusations, and the defendant and or defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond reasonable doubt.”
