Bogota Man Charged With Sexually Assaulting Teen Girl

BOGOTA, NJ.- Following an investigation into allegations of the multiple sexual assaults of a teen, on Friday, October 4, 2024, a 19-year-old Bogota, New Jersey man was taken into custody and jailed following being charged with sex crimes.
According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, the Bogota Police Department contacted the Detectives of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit after they received a report regarding the alleged sexual assault of a juvenile under the age of sixteen.
Investigation Uncovers Sexual Assault
Following an investigation by Detectives of the Bergen County Special Victims Unit and the Bogota Police Department and after interviewing witnesses, including the teen victim, Detectives determined that Juan S. Flores-Mejia, 19, of Bogota, sexually assaulted a child under the age of sixteen on multiple occasions in Bogota, New Jersey.
Accordingly, on Friday, October 4, 2024, Flores-Mejia was taken into custody at the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office in Paramus, New Jersey, and formally charged with four counts of second-degree Sexual Assault; and third-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child.
Flores-Mejia was processed on the charges and was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending future court proceedings in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, New Jersey.
