York Man Will Spend The Next Decade & Half In Prison For Drug Trafficking

HARRISBURG, PA.- On Monday, October 7, 2024, Mark A. Woods, 32, of York, Pennsylvania, appeared in U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Christopher C. Conner to 176 months in federal prison for multiple federal drug law violations.

     According to U.S. Attorney Gerard M. Karam, Woods was sentenced on Monday for Trafficking Crack Cocaine, Heroin, and Fentanyl in the York, Pennsylvania area.

     Woods had previously appeared in U.S. District Court and entered guilty pleas to the charges. During his allocution, Woods admitted that on July 30, 2019, the members of the York City Police Department apprehended him with illicit narcotics that he was going distribute. During his apprehension, Police Officers found a gun in his possession.

Judge Notes Woods’ Prior Criminal History

     In handing down the sentence on Monday, Judge Conner pointed to the fact that Woods had a gun on this occasion, that Woods’ extensive criminal history, including drugs and guns, and that previous prison sentences had failed to deter him from committing other criminal offenses.

     U.S. Attorney Karam commended the York City Police Department, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael A. Consiglio for investigating and successfully prosecuting Woods.
