Bayonne Man & Jersey City Man Sentenced To Prison For Robbery Spree

NEWARK, NJ.- On Tuesday, October 15, 2024, U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger reported that two Hudson County, New Jersey, men were sentenced to federal prison for their roles in a month-long armed robbery spree and an attempted carjacking of an off-duty Essex County Sheriff’s Officer.
On Thursday, October 10, 2024, Wendell Bradley, Jr., 27, of Bayonne, New Jersey, appeared in U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Madeline Cox Arleo to 160 months in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release for his previously entered guilty pleas to one count of Conspiracy to Commit Hobbs Act Robbery; one count of Hobbs Act Robbery; one count of Attempted Carjacking; and one count of Brandishing a Firearm in Furtherance of a Crime of Violence.
On Thursday, October 3, 2024, Joseph Brown, 26, of Jersey City, New Jersey, appeared in U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey and was sentenced by Judge Cox Arleo to 92 months in federal prison, to be followed by three years of supervised release for his entered guilty pleas to one count of Attempted Hobbs Act Robbery; and one count of Hobbs Act Robbery.
According to U.S. Attorney Sellinger and documents filed with the court, beginning on January 3, 2022, and lasting through February 4, 2022, Bradley, either alone or with Brown, would drive up to a gas station, pull up to the pump, ask the gas station attendant to put gas into the vehicle’s tank. While the tank was being filled, he would pull out a gun and demand money from the attendant.
On January 20, 2022, in Union, New Jersey, Brown pointed a gun at a gas station attendant, demanded money, and threatened to kill him. Bradley then grabbed the attendant from behind, but the attendant was able to break free and retreat into the gas station building before Brown or Bradley could take any money from the attendant.
Robbery Spree Ends Following Crashing Vehicle
The armed robbery crime spree ended after Bradley and Brown robbed a gas station attendant at gunpoint in Secaucus, New Jersey. Following the robbery, Bradley and Brown fled with police officers pursuing them from Secaucus to Newark, New Jersey, where Bradley crashed his car, and the two fled on foot.
While Bradley and Brown were running from police, Bradley pulled his gun and approached an off-duty Essex County Sheriff’s Officer and demanded that the officer give Bradley his car. The Sheriff’s Officer was ultimately able to disarm Bradley and detain him until Police Officers arrived on the scene.
