Leader Of Cross-State Drug Trafficking Organization Convicted Following Trial

PITTSBURGH, PA.- On Friday, October 11, 2024, a Federal Jury for the Western District of Pennsylvania, following a five-day trial before U.S. District Court Judge Robert J. Colville, deliberated for less than four hours before finding Qureem Overton, 43, guilty of the charge of Conspiring to Distribute 40 Grams of Fentanyl and Quantities of Heroin, and Cocaine, as well as Possession with Intent to Distribute those Controlled Substances, between January 2017 and June 2020.
According to U.S. Attorney Eric G. Olshan, after the jury found Overton, 43, who previously lived in Butler and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, guilty, Judge Colville accepted the verdict, filed it with the court, and scheduled sentencing for February 25, 2025, in U.S. District Court.
Evidence Presented At Trial
According to evidence presented during the trial, Overton was the leader of an illicit narcotics trafficking organization that transported large quantities of fentanyl, heroin, and cocaine from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, into Butler, Pennsylvania, to be sold and distributed throughout the Butler and surrounding communities in the Western District of Pennsylvania.
At sentencing, Overton faces a decades-long federal prison term due to his prior Pennsylvania state convictions in the Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas for narcotics trafficking, robbery, and aggravated assault that resulted in state prison sentences.
