Hasbrouck Heights Man Charged With Possession Of Child Pornography

HASBROUCK HEIGHTS, NJ.- Following a State and Federal investigation on Monday, October 21, 2024, a 41-year-old Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey man was taken into custody and jailed after being charged for allegedly possessing child pornography.

     According to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella, on Thursday, October 26, 2024, members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit received credible information that Abhishek Vijayakumar, 41, of Hasbrouck Heights, was suspected of possessing child pornography.

     Detectives of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and federal agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Newark Division, launched a joint investigation. During the investigation, a court-authorized search warrant was obtained and executed on Vijayakumar’s electronic devices.

     During a subsequent forensic analysis of Vijayakumar’s devices, Detectives uncovered that Vijayakumar was utilizing the Internet to view, download, and save digital images depicting nude and sexually explicit prepubescent children.

Investigation Ends With Criminal Charge

     Accordingly, on Monday, October 21, 2024, Vijayakumar was taken into custody at the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office in Paramus, New Jersey, and was formally charged with third-degree Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material. Following being processed on the charge, Vijayahumar was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending future court proceedings in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, New Jersey.
