New Castle Sentenced To Prison For Drug Trafficking Crimes

PITTSBURGH, PA.- On Wednesday, October 23, 2024, Dontae Blackshear, 26, of New Castle, Pennsylvania, appeared in U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and was sentenced by Senior U.S. District Court Judge Arthur J. Schwab to 51 months in federal prison, to be followed by six years of supervised release for his previously entered guilty for trafficking fentanyl and cocaine.

     According to U.S. Attorney Eric G. Olshan, Blackshear had previously appeared before Judge Schwab and pleaded guilty to Conspiracy to Distribute Fentanyl and Cocaine between May 2021 and October 2022.

According To Documents Filed With The Court

    According to information filed with the court, Blackshear, while on state parole, was responsible for trafficking 20 grams of fentanyl and 100 grams of cocaine. At the time he committed this offense, Blackshear had been released from state prison for a 2021 heroin trafficking conviction. This sentence was preceded by several convictions in separate state prosecutions dating back to 2016, including prosecutions and convictions for assault, two violent burglaries, fleeing and eluding law enforcement, and conspiracy to commit theft.

     U.S. Attorney Olshan commended the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Pennsylvania Office of the Attorney General, the United States Postal Inspection Service, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, the Lawrence County Drug Task Force, the Mercer County Drug Task Force, the New Castle Police Department, the Sharon Police Department, and the Pennsylvania State Police for investigating and successfully prosecuting Blackshear.
