Wall Township Man Arrested & Charged In Wednesday’s Armed Bank Robbery

WALL TOWNSHIP, NJ.- A 50-year-old Wall Township, New Jersey, man was taken and charged in connection with an armed bank robbery that occurred Wednesday afternoon at the Wall Township Bank of America.

     According to Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago, Jeffrey L. Kniffin, 50, of Wall Township, was formally charged with one count of first-degree Armed Robbery; second-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and fourth-degree Possession of Hollow Point Ammunition.

     The charges stem from an investigation that began on Wednesday, October 24, 2024, when, just shortly before 3:30 p.m., members of the Wall Township Police Department responded to a Bank of America branch located on State Highway 35 in the Township after receiving a report of a robbery.

     Upon arrival, Police Officers learned that a man wearing a mask, glasses, ball cap, black hooded sweatshirt, and gloves had walked into the bank, pulled out a handgun, and robbed a teller of a large sum of cash, in excess of $5,000, before running out of the bank.

Off-Duty Police Officers Arrests Suspect

     An off-duty Wall Township Police Officer was in his vehicle near the bank. As the Police Officer was heading toward the bank, he spotted a man matching the description of the suspect riding a bicycle a short distance from the bank. The Officer followed the suspect, later identified as Kniffin, to the front of his home on M Street, where he was apprehended.

     After being processed on the charges, Kniffin was remanded to the Monmouth County Correctional Institution pending future court proceedings in Monmouth County Superior Court in Freehold, New Jersey.
