Teen Dead, & Man Critical In Friday Afternoon Southeast Double Shooting

WASHINGTON, DC.- Detectives are searching for the gunman in Friday afternoon’s Southeast D.C. double shooting that tragically claimed the life of a Southeast teen and left a man hospitalized in critical condition.

     According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Friday, October 25, 2024, members of the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department’s Seventh District responded to the 2800 Block of Langston Place in Southeast D.C. after receiving multiple reports of shots being fired.

Responding Officers Find Shooting Victims

     Upon arrival, Police Officers found a man and a 16-year-old boy, both suffering from life-threaten injuries. Both shooting victims were immediately transported by DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services to a nearby hospital, where the teen, identified as Darren Johnson, 16, of Southeast D.C., succumbed to gunshot wounds and was pronounced deceased a short time later. 

     The man underwent emergency surgery and remains hospitalized in critical condition.

     The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests have been made as Detectives are continuing the search for the gunman.
