BOSTON, MA.- On Thursday, October 24, 2024, Krishna Kunapuli, 39, of India, appeared in U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts and pleaded guilty before U.S. Magistrate Judge David H. Hennessy to one count of Committing Lewd, Indecent, or Obscene Acts on a Aircraft.
After entering his guilty plea on Thursday, Judge Hennessy accepted the plea and immediately sentenced Kunapuli to two years of probation and a $5,000 fine. Judge Hennessy also ordered Kunapuli to immediately, in the presence of federal law enforcement agents, delete photographs that he took of a female passenger during the flight and to have no contact with her.
According To The U.S. Attorney’s Office
According to Acting U.S. Attorney Joshua S. Levy and charging documents presented to the court, Kunapuli made unwanted sexual advances toward a woman on board a flight from Abu Dhabi to Boston’s Logan International Airport, including touching her hair and taking pictures of her without permission. Following a flight crew member intervening, Kunapuli returned to his seat.
After returning to his seat and later on the flight, two men seated across from Kunapuli noticed him masturbating under a blanket and, at times, with his penis fully exposed. One of the men reported Kunapuli’s conduct to a flight attendant, who immediately alerted law enforcement. Upon the flight landing, Kunapuli was immediately taken into custody and charged.
