Friday, November 1, 2024, 9:00 A.M. ET. 1 Minute Read, By Art Fletcher: Englebrook Independent News,

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ.- Today, November 1, 2024, Eugene Shirk, 33, of Atlantic City, New Jersey, appeared in Atlantic County Superior Court and pleaded guilty before Superior Court Judge Dorothy Incarvito-Garrabrant to one count of second-degree Attempted Robbery.

According to Atlantic County Prosecutor William E. Reynolds, in return for the guilty plea, Atlantic County Assistant Prosecutor David Little will recommend that Shirk be sentenced to six years in New Jersey State Prison subject to the No Early Release Act, which will require Shirk to serve 85% of his custodial term before becoming eligible for parole.

Following entering his guilty plea, Judge Incarvito-Garrabrant accepted the plea and scheduled Shirk to be sentenced on January 23, 2025.

The charge and guilty plea stem from an incident that began on April 13, 2023, when, just around 2:00 p.m., members of the Atlantic City Police Department responded to a request for assistance at the intersection of South Carolina and Adriatic Avenues in the City.

Upon arriving on the scene, Police Officers were flagged by a woman who reported she was almost robbed. The victim pointed out Shirk, who was still in the area, and told Police Officers while she was stopped at the intersection, Shirk jumped in her car and demanded money. The woman was able to turn off her car and escape without being robbed or injured. Police Officers arrested Shirk at the scene.
