Saturday, November 2, 2024, 2:20 P.M. ET. 2 Minute Read, By Art Fletcher: Englebrook Independent News,

WILLINGBORO, NJ.- On Friday, November 1, 2024, a 37-year-old Lansdowne, Pennsylvania, man was charged in connection with the shooting deaths of two women early Wednesday morning inside their Willingboro Township, New Jersey home.

According to Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw, Junior Edwards, 37, of Lansdowne, Pennsylvania, was formally charged yesterday by Detectives with two counts of first-degree Murder; first-degree Home Invasion Burglary Armed with a Firearm; second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon; second-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose; and second-degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

Edwards was served with the warrant complaints by Detectives of the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he was taken into custody on an unrelated matter.

Investigation Leads To Charges Being Filed

The charges stem from an investigation that unfolded on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, when shortly after 4:00 a.m., members of the Willingboro Township Police Department responded to a report of a burglary in progress at a residence located on the First Block of Harrington Circle in the Township.

Upon arrival, Police Officers made entry into the home and discovered the bodies of Catherine Nunez, 33, and her mother, Marisol Nunez, 54, in an upstairs bedroom, both having succumbed to gunshot wounds. Both women were subsequently pronounced deceased at the scene.

An ensuing investigation determined that Edwards had made an entry through a first-floor window that had been broken open. A handgun believed to be used in the shooting deaths was found by Police Officers outside the home. Further investigation revealed that Edwards and Catherine Nunez had an 8-year-old son together. The child was present in the house at the time of the murders.

Autopsies that were performed by the Burlington County Medical Examiner’s Office on both women determined the cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds and the manner to be that of homicide.

Both Women Died From Multiple Gunshot Wounds

The investigation remains ongoing and is being conducted by the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office and the Willingboro Township Police Department with assistance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Greater Safe Streets Task Force, the Lansdowne Police Department, and the Philadelphia Police Department Violent Crimes Task Force.
