Deptford Man Sentenced To Prison For Drug Conspiracy & Firearms Charges

NEWARK, NJ.- On Tuesday, October 29, 2024, Javier Osorio, 44, of Deptford, New Jersey, appeared in U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey and was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Brian R. Martinotti to 72 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release for illicit narcotics trafficking and firearms offenses.
According to U.S. Attorney Philip R. Sellinger, Osorio was convicted on July 19, 2023, by a Federal Jury of the charges of Conspiracy to Distribute and Possess with Intent to Distribute Heroin and Cocaine; Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin; Possession of a Firearm in Furtherance of a Drug Trafficking Crime; and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Prohibited Person.
According to documents filed and statements made in court, Osorio conspired with others to distribute cocaine and over one kilogram of heroin, which investigators recovered and seized during a court-authorized search of his apartment.
Osorio was arrested while driving with his conspirators from New Jersey to Brooklyn, New York, to sell and distribute an additional quantity of heroin, which Police Officers recovered from the vehicle. In addition to the illicit narcotics recovered and seized from his apartment, law enforcement investigators also found and seized a loaded stolen firearm from under Osorio’s mattress.
U.S. Attorney Sellinger credited Special Agents of the Drug Enforcement Administration with the investigation leading to the conviction. He also thanked the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office and Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez.
