Detectives Investigating Sunday Night’s Southeast D.C. Shooting Homicide

WASHINGTON, DC.- Detectives of the Metropolitan Police Department are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding Sunday’s late-night shooting in Southeast D.C. that claimed the life of a 25-year-old Maryland man and has left another man hospitalized.
According to D.C. Metropolitan Police Chief Pamela A. Smith, on Sunday, November 3, 2024, just minutes before 10:00 p.m., members of the Metropolitan Police Department’s Seventh District responded to reports of gunfire on the 2100 Block of Savannah Terrace in Southeast D.C.
Responding Police Officers Find Victims
Upon arrival, Police Officers and DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services found a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The man was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
During the initial investigation, and while Police Officers were canvassing the area for witnesses, a second man, later identified as Lorenzo Campbell, Jr., 25, of Fort Washington, Maryland, was discovered unresponsive from a gunshot wound. Mr. Campbell was immediately transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased a short time later.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests or charges have been filed at this time.
