Detroit Man Sentenced For West Virginia Drug Crimes

CHARLESTON, W.VA.- On Monday, November 4, 2024, Shakur Jones, 25, of Detroit, Michigan, appeared in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of West Virginia and was sentenced by Chief U.S. District Court Judge Thomas S. Kleeh to 151 months to be followed by three years of supervised release for his convictions of Conspiracy to Distribute Controlled Substances; and Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Zelda Wesley and documents filed with the court, Jones was a major supplier of methamphetamine, crack cocaine, and fentanyl for a drug trafficking conspiracy that distributed large quantities of controlled substances throughout the Monongalia County, West Virginia area.
During the investigation, investigators uncovered over a kilogram of methamphetamine in a residence in Morgantown, West Virginia. A photograph of 10 pounds of prepackaged methamphetamine was recovered from Jones’s cell phone.
Codefendants Admit Guilt
Three other defendants, Nolan Eickleberry, 27, of Morgantown, West Virginia, John Thomas, 46, also from Morgantown, West Virginia, and Dorian Myles, 26, of Detroit, Michigan, have all admitted to their roles in the drug trafficking conspiracy. Eickeberry was sentenced in August 2024 to 87 months in federal prison. Thomas and Myles are awaiting sentencing.
