Upon arrival, first responders found heavy smoke and flames coming from the building. The fire, which authorities believe started in a ground-floor business, quickly spread to the upper-floor apartments, leading fire officials to activate additional units. During fire suppression, two firefighters sustained minor injuries and were transported to Jersey City Medical Center. As a result of the fire, twenty-six residents were displaced from their homes.
